Like a lot of you, I get tons of marketing emails from J. Crew.
Yesterday’s was devoted to jewelry, and the subject line was, “Instant heirlooms.”
My first thought was, “Goodness. That’s overstating things just a little bit, don’t you think?”
Sure, they’re cute costume pieces, but I wouldn’t call them treasures to be passed down from one generation to the next.
Then again, I have a few faux-fabulous items that my grandmother wore in the 50s and 60s. (So Betty Draper!)
Grandmother yawns at the sight of them, whereas I think they’re the bee’s knees just because they’re vintage.
What’s your take? Is this necklace an instant heirloom?
Personally, I’d rather find tomorrow’s family treasures here….
